The project
Trucks cannot reach every alley. Local pre-collection goes to the waste where it is, with drop-off points in each neighbourhood and collectors on tricycles and motorbikes.
Every drop-off is weighed by a VIPRO agent, then paid by the kilo through mobile money, with an SMS receipt. The pilot will start in one district.
